Implementation of the second ELI pillar in Portugal (October 2017)

On the 27th of July 2017, Portugal implemented Pillar II of the European Legislation Identifier (ELI) at the level of the official journal Diário da República and legal acts, in accordance with the metadata ELI ontology, version 1.1.

Pillar II of ELI will also be extended to the level of consolidation of legal acts during 2017.

The Portuguese version of the documentation on the structure of the URI model, Pillar I, and the structure of the metadata elements, Pillar II, is already available in the electronic page of the ELI register of the official journal https://dre.pt/identificador-europeu-legislacao.

The ELI has been very well received by public administration services for being attributed to their legal act published in the official journal or to their consolidated legal act.

At the request of citizens with disabilities and according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 http://data.europa.eu/eli/dir/2016/2102/oj, the mouse position on the acronym ELI — for example the official journal of 20 October 2017 http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/1/203/2017/0/pt/html — will return the descriptive “European Legislation Identifier” and the screen reading tools used by citizens with disabilities associate the description “European Legislation Identifier” with the acronym ELI.

The code added is as follows:

<abbr title="European Legislation Identifier">ELI</abbr>

Portugal also aims to implement Pillar III of ELI during 2018.
